Songs for Quiet Moments

Grammy Award wining musicians Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel play ‘Spring Maiden’. From their 2009 Album, Leap of Faith. The combination of the acoustic guitar and the ocarina, an ancient wind instrument, is just sublime in my view.


The next piece is a haunting choral piece entitled, ‘Benedictus’ by the Welsh composer, Sir Karl Jenkins, It appeared in his 2001 Album The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, and is performed here by the Croatian cellist, Stjepan Hauser with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and


‘Benedictus’ is one of Jenkin’s best-known works and surely one of the most beautiful pieces of choral music from the last 50 years. He explains what makes ‘Benedictus’ so haunting in this Youtube video:
