‘Eternity’: a Poem

Stok Kangri base camp in Ladakh at 4,980 meters (16,339 feet).

Whether you believe in eternity or not,
visages of it is inescapable
when you are up
at the crack of dawn
drawing the rarefied air
of sixteen thousand feet
and your outstretched hands
could almost touch the paling stars.
Somehow, every sinew in you
is primed to bow at such moments,
to the music of the spheres.
