Bronze Age Bling: An Ancient Glass Beaded Necklace

This necklace strung from blue glass beads looks modern, but it dates to the Late Bronze Age some 3,100 years ago. It was found in 1885 when a farmer ploughed up a cremation urn at Kongehoj in Denmark. Analysis shows the beads were made in Mesopotamia or present-day Iraq over 3000 years ago, providing evidence of trade connections between Europe and the Middle East as early as that.
