Minimalist photography has a seductive “less is more” quality that I find irresistible. Like other forms of minimalist art, minimalist photography is about stripping a subject down to its essence to form pictures that cut through the clutter. What is left are empty spaces, clean lines and very few things to distract the viewer from looking deeper. It is the perfect technique to fend off the blinkers in everyday life and allows ourselves to find joy and appreciation in the most mundane things. Hence the subjects of a minimalist photo don’t have to be fancy. Raindrops on bus windows or the sunlight filtering through leaves can be beautiful in their own quiet ways.
