Hans Zimmer (b. 1957) joins the likes of John Barry, Ennio Morricone and John Williams, as among the greatest modern film music composer of all time. In 2011, Zimmer was named on the list of the Top 100 Living Geniuses published by the Daily Telegraph. The winner of the 1994 Oscars (Best Original Score for ‘The Lion King’) and four Grammy awards has composed music for over 150 films, including Gladiator, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception and Interstellar. His compositions are notable for their combination of electronic sounds with traditional orchestral arrangements. Here is a personal favorite: “Now We Are Free”, the last song in the soundtrack for Gladiator, the 2000 epic directed by Ridley Scott.
