Art Focus: Ann Van Hoey, Ceramic Artist

Trained to be an engineer, Ann Van Hoey (b. 1956) is now a renowned ceramic artist whose works appeal to connoisseurs for their precise abstract forms. She has parlayed her talent for mathematics and sciences into her craft, creating sculptures in clay where geometric rigor and simple colors express the poetry of lines and curves. Van Hoey has won many accolades for her work, including the title of Commander in the Order of the Crown by King Philippe in 2022. She is also a member of the prestigious International Academic of Ceramics. Her work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world, and are held in the permanent collections of the KMKG Royal Museum of Art and History in Brussels, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York and the New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan, to name a few.
